(NaturalNews) Cannabis has been vilified and attacked for nearly a century by industry propaganda, ignorant religious beliefs and controlling government dictates. As more people learn what cannabis is and all that it entails, they can release their feelings of dissension, control, judgment and paranoia toward the plant and those who use it.
As cannabis knowledge spreads, hemp, marijuana and CBDs are finally getting the recognition they deserve as powerful vessels of healing. The most popularly bred component of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), can be used for recreational purposes, to reduce pain, relieve stress and excite pleasure in the mind. There are other non-psychoactive components of cannabis that can be extracted and used for medicinal purposes too.
Other compounds that have entered the research spotlight include: Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabinol (CBN), Cannabichromene (CBC), Cannabigerol (CBG) and Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV).
As reported by Natural Blaze, some of the health problems that cannabis oil helps include: epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, glaucoma, muscular schlerosis, Tourette’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and chronic pain.
The many components of medicinal cannabis oil
When people speak of medicinal cannabis, they are referring to the compounds that are found in the resin of the leaves, flowers and roots of the plant. Cannabis leaves and flowers are covered in trichomes, which are small glands of resinous oil. This resinous oil differs from strain to strain, and contains different ratios of cannabinoids, as well as over a hundred kinds of biologically active and aromatic terpenes.
The most popular compound in cannabis is THC, which produces a pleasurable, psychoactive effect that varies from person to person. Even though getting high can be used to escape reality, the psychoactive effect of THC isn’t harmful to the body.
Cannabis is simply a flowering plant with fibrous stalks, and these stalks (hemp) can be used to make paper, rope, clothing and other building materials. Its seeds are an excellent food source that is full of healthy oils and fats for internal and external use. Hemp seed oil is growing in popularity for use in cosmetic products.
Breeders now develop a strain of cannabis that is dominant in CBD. This strain is used to treat anxiety, nausea, convulsions and inflammation without any intoxicating effects. CBN is only slightly psychoactive, but its powers are significant for stopping seizures and treating intraocular pressure. CBC utilizes the analgesic effect of THC to provide a more calming, sedative experience. CBG utilizes these sedative effects and also possesses antimicrobial properties. THCV is used to treat metabolic disorders, including type-2 diabetes.
Beyond these wonderful properties, cannabis also contains a powerful surplus of flavonoids, terpenes and other biologically active compounds that help the body heal.
Cannabis extracts go by several names
Hemp oil is a term that refers specifically to the extract of cannabis seeds. THC rarely occurs in the seeds, so hemp oil is not psychoactive, but is extraordinarily healthy for the body.
Cannabis oil is a broad term that may refer to the extract of any part of the plant. CBD oil is a specific, non-psychoactive cannabis oil that is becoming popular for treating seizures. Lab verified CBD oil is a precious commodity, an essential item for any medicine cabinet where such use is legal.
Hash oil is different to CBD oil. It is a psychoactive variation of cannabis oil that contains natural plant essences and terpenes, and has the consistency of sap. Other psychoactive variants include: butane hash oil, marijuana shatter and cannabis wax. These oils are often used for vaporization. Psychoactive extracts may also be called marijuana oil.
There are three species of cannabis. Cannabis Ruderalis is a rare variety. Cannabis sativa produces an energizing feeling, elation and increased focus and creativity. Cannabis Indica is more relaxing, reduces nausea and alleviates anxiety. While it may lead to “fuzzy thinking,” it is great for easing headaches, pain and preventing seizure attacks. Most cannabis strains are hybrids of both Sativa and Indica varieties.
With greater understanding of the properties of cannabis, one day people everywhere will be able to access an integral component of healing that is missing in their lives.
